The Patharughat Massacre occured on?

Answer

The Patharughat incident or Patharughator Ran (battle of patharughat) took place on January 28, 1894. It was similar to Jallianwala Bagh massacre. British open fired on unarmed peasants, who gathered for a community meeting to protest against increase in revenue. Hundreds died (at least 140) on the spot. But British officers tried to hush up the issue and recorded only 15 casualties. Patharughat is now a revenue circle in Darrang district of Assam.
