Assam State Museum
Assam State Museum is situated at Guwahati. It is a very unique place showcasing rich cultural heritage of Assam, Assamese people and entire North- East India. The collection of the museum comprises more than 1000 years old stone sculptures, Royal garments, various ancient weapons, old utensils, rare coins of various kingdoms, stone & copper plate inscriptions, ivory works, metal sculptures, paintings, etc.
The Assam State Museum houses many rare specimen of the Ahom dynasty. Many articles, equipments, dress materials, antiques, statues, and other valuable articles are also displayed here. What’s more? Beautiful age old illustrated manuscripts written on tree bark (‘Sanchi Bark’) are on display here. This museum is also preserving some special monuments of World War II.
