Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary
Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary in Darrang district of Assam is located in the foothills of Himalayas bordering neighbouring country Bhutan. The Sanctuary was established especially for the protection and conservation of Hispid Hare and Pigmy Hog. The area covered by the sanctuary is 26.22 square km. Best months to visit Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuaries are November to April.
Wildlife in Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary:
- Mammals: Pigmy Hog, Wild Pig, Hispid Hare, Elephant, Gaur, Tiger, Leopard, Small Indian Civet, Jungle Cat, Chinese Pangolin, Porcupine, Himalayan Black Bear, Barking Deer etc.
- Birds: Peafowl, Hornbill, Swamp partridge, Bengal florican etc.
How to reach:
The Bornadi Wildlife Sanctuary is located 70 kms. from Mangaldoi, about 120 kms. from Tezpur and 140 kms. from Rajiv Gandhi Orang National Park . The nearest Airport is LGBI, Guwahati, which is about 150 kms. away.
