Durjaya or Sri Durjaya was the first capital city of Pala Dynasty. Durjaya means Impregnable. It was located at the foot of the Durjaya Hills. Later they moved the capital to Kamrupanagara. The Palas of Kamrupa were Hindus and they ruled the Kamrupa kingdom for about 400 years. Durjaya is present day North Guwahati.
