The Bagurumba Dance is a vital part of the Bodo (boro) culture and depicts the beauty of nature. This attractive folk dance of the Bodo tribe of Assam, resembles the movement of birds and butterflies. It is basically a female oriented dance, in which the female dancers clad in colourful attires gently move their feet alongwith outstretched hands while dancing in the tunes of the traditional instruments like Kham, Singphu, Jotha, Chereda, etc. Now-a-days, it has got two variations: Natural Bagurumba, which is performed without song, and the Royal Bagurumba, which is accompanied by songs. The Bagurumba Dance is usually performed during the spring season.
