A Chief Minister is the elected head of government of a state or a union territory of India. The first Chief Minister of Assam was Sayed Md. Sadulla. It was during British Rule of India. After independence of India, Gopinath Bordoloi became the first Chief Minister of Assam. The current chief minister of Assam is Tarun Gogoi.
