Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) is an state open university in Assam. It was established in 2006. The goal of the open university was to provide quality higher education through open and distance learning to reach the unreached of the society. The Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and Distance Education Council, Govt. of India.
History:
Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University was established under the provision of the KKHSOU, Act 2005 of Govt. of Assam. The headquarters of the University is located at Housefed Complex, Last Gate, Dispur, Guwahati, Assam. The university started functioning with the joining of Prof. Srinath Baruah as the Vice-Chancellor. The university started offering Bachelor Degree programmes since 2008. Currently, the KKHSOU has study centres at almost all major colleges in the state.
