Mamata is a Government of Assam for women. It seeks to reduce Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), by insisting on a 48 hours post-delivery hospital stay of the mother and the newborn. During discharge (after 48 of delivery or more), the mother receives a gift hamper called the ‘Mamata’ kit. This Mamata kit contains several essential items like baby powder, baby oil, a mosquito net, a flannel cloth etc. Launched in 2010, Mamata scheme covers all Government health institutions in Assam.
