Morom is a Government of Assam scheme for patients admitted in Government hospitals. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to the general ward patients on a daily basis for up to 7 days. It aims to compensate the expenses related to dietary requirement or the wage loss (in case of wage earners) during the period of hospitalization. The compensation structure is different for different Govt. health institutions. Morom Scheme was launched in 2010.
Details of Morom Scheme

- Target group: The indoor patients of Government hospitals
- Benefit : Financial compensation up to Rs. 75 per day for max 7 days.
- Eligibility : The patient must be a patient of the general ward in a Government hospital.
Compensation structure:
- For Medical College patients: Rs. 75/- per day for maximum 7 days
- For District Hospital patients: Rs. 50/- per day for maximum 5 days
- For SDCH/ CHC/ PHC patients: Rs. 30/- per day for maximum 5 days.
Under the Morom Scheme, payment is made only to the patients. The payment is made by the Accounts Manager of the Health Institution after verification of the Admission and Discharge Record. In case of very poor patients, there is also a provision to make the payments even before discharge.
