Na-Bowari is a Government of Assam scheme launched under the Chief Minister’s Special Programme. Under the scheme financial assistance of Rs. 10,000 is provided to newly wed females who tied the knot after January, 2010 and who are from families living Below Poverty Line (BPL). To be eligible, the female must be at least 20 years of age at the time of her marriage. The purpose of Na-Bowari scheme to discourage child marriage and lower school drop out of females at primary and secondary level.
