Sushrusha is a Government of Assam scheme for patients who have undergone kidney transplantation. Under the scheme, a financial assistance of Rs. 1 Lakh is granted to eligible patients. To be eligible, a patient must be a resident of Assam with an annual household income of less than Rs. 3 Lakh. The kidney transplantation done only after April 1, 2010 are eligible. Government Servants, public sector employees and employees who are entitle for medical reimbursement are not covered under this scheme. Sushrusha scheme was launched on August 23, 2010.
Sushrusha Scheme Details:
- Department: Department of Health & Family Welfare, Govt of Assam
- Target Group: Patients who have undergone Kidney transplantation after April 1, 2010.
- Benefit: One-time financial assistance worth Rs. 1 Lakh
- Eligibility: Resident of Assam with household income of less than Rs. 3 lakh per annum.
The financial assistance is provided to help the patients cover the expenditure incurred during the kidney transplantation procedure and aftercare. So, Govt servants, public sector employees and any employee receiving medical reimbursement from the company are not entitled to receive benefit under this Govt of Assam scheme. In order to be eligible, a Nodal Officer must certify that the patients have undergone a kidney transplantation.
