APSC Mains Persian syllabus. Persian is one of the eight (8) approved Modern Languages or Literature & Classical languages that can be used as an Optional in Combined Competitive (Main) Examination. Conducted by Assam Public Service Commission (APSC), there will be two Persian question papers in APSC Mains exam. The first question paper will cover Prose and Poetry. On the other hand, the question paper II will cover Persian language history, Translation, Grammar, Rhetoric, Essay etc. Look below for the full syllabus of APSC Persian Paper I and Persian Paper II.

Persian Syllabus for APSC (Mains) Examination:

PERSIAN PAPER – I (APSC Main Exam)

Poetry:

• Mathnavi – Rumi:1st Daftar (1st half)
• Shahnama-Firdawasi:Selected pieces : (i) Aghaz-i-Dastan-i-Sahrab. (ii)Raftan-i-Rustan Ba Shikar wa Rashidan-i-Nazdi Shah Samangan. (iii)Amadan-i-Tahminah nazdi Rustam wa be zanigiriftan-i-Rustam ura
• Hafiz : Diwan-i-Hafiz:(1st part only)
• Ghazals of Saidi: (i) Barkhez ta yaksu mihim. (ii) Wagi-i-Tarab Khush Yaftan. (iii) In Tui Sarwi bustani. (iv) Aiki gufti hich Mushkil chum Firg-i-nist. (v) Khushtar az dawran-i-ishk ayyam nist.

PERSIAN PAPER – II (APSC Main Exam)

Part I : History of Persian Language and Literature :

• Origin and development of Persian Language.
• Origin and development of Persian Literature: (i) Classical background, (ii) Socio-cultural influences, (iii) Modern trends, Origin and development of modern literary genres including drama, short story, essay.

Part II : Translation, Grammar, Rhetoric, Essay :

• Translation of unseen Persian passage into English.
• Significant features of Persian Grammar and Rhetorics.
• Short essay in Persian on a subject connected with Persian Literature.

Note :
(i)The candidates are expected to answer critical questions on the authors and the poem as well as the General Characteristics of the Literature.
(ii)The candidates will be required to answer some questions carrying not less than 25 percent marks in Persian.
