Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi
Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi (1933 – 2004) was an eminent female poet, lyricist and writer from Assam. She won Sahitya Akademi Award in 1983 and became the president of 1991 annual session of the Asam Sahitya Sabha.
Biography:
Nirmal prabha Bordoloi was born in 1933 in Sibsagar district, Assam. Borodoloi got married at the age of 11. But she continued her studies and earned further degrees.
Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi wrote more than 54 Assamese and English books and thousands of Assamese songs. She also wrote several children’s fiction and on Assamese folk culture books. She won Sahitya Akademi Award in the year 1983. The prestigious Indian literary award was given or her excellent poetry book Sudirgha Din Aru Ritu. In 1987, she was conferred with the Sawaswati Sanman. In 1991, Bordoloi presided over the Dudhnoi session of Asam Sahitya Sabha.
Nirmal Prabha Bordoloi passed away on June 1, 2004.
