Barpathar is a town and Town Committee/Town Area Committee in Golaghat district of Assam. As per 2001 India Census, the population of the town was 7079. Out of the total population male comprises of 53% and females 47%. The population comprises of Ahoms, Kacharis, Kalitas, Sutias, Bodos etc. The literacy rate is 78%. Major spoken language is Assamese.
