Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) is one of the premier institute of engineering, science and technology in India. Gift of 1985 Assam Accord and established in 1994, the campus of IIT Guwahati is located on the northern banks of river Brahmaputra, near Amingaon in North Guwahati, Assam. IIT Guwahati offers BTech, BDes, MA, MDes, MTech, MSc and PhD programmes in all major engineering, science and humanities disciplines.

This autonomous education institute has world class infrastructure on a sprawling 285 hectares plot of land. It is also well equipped with state-of-the-art scientific and engineering instruments. For students, IIT Guwahati campus has 10 hostels: Manas, Dihing, Kapili, Barak, Subansiri (girl’s hostel), Siang, Kameng, Umiam, Dibang and Brahmaputra. There is also a separate hostel for married postgraduates. The IIT Guwahati Gymhkana Club promotes the objectives of fostering extra-curricular & co-curricular activites, welfare of students and their stay on the campus.

1. Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech): Four years (8 semesters) programme in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Science and Technology, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics & Computing and Mechanical Engineering
2. Bachelor of Design (B.Des.): Four years (8 semesters)

Master Programme:

1. Master of Technology (M.Tech.): Two years (2-semester coursework + 2-semester project work) prgramme in the following departments: Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electronics & Electrical Engineering.
2. Master of Design (M.Des.): Two years (4 semesters) programme in the Department of Design.
3. Master of Science (M.Sc.): Two years (4 semesters) programme in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics & Computing.
4. Master of Arts (MA) in Development Studies: Two years (4 semesters) programme in the Department of HSS.

Doctoral Programme:
